Command Sergeant Major Nicholas P. Rockey is Command Sergeant Major of the 1st Battalion, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Arlington, Virginia. Command Sgt. Maj. Rockey was born in Edon, Ohio. He enlisted in the United States  Army on 20 April 2000.  He completed One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, GA as an Infantryman (11B).  During his career Command Sgt. Maj. Rockey has served in every leadership position from Team Leader to First Sergeant.

Command Sgt. Maj. Rockey’s previous assignments include: D CO, 1-50th Infantry Regiment (OSUT), Fort Benning, Georgia, where he served as a Drill Sergeant; A CO, 2-22nd Infantry Regiment, 10th MTN Division, Fort  Drum, New York, where he served as a Squad Leader, Weapons Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and completed two combat tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom; A CO, 4th Ranger Training Battalion, Fort Benning, Georgia, where he served as a Ranger Instructor; 2-35th Infantry Regiment, 25th IN DIV, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, where he served as a Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant; C SQD, Asymmetric Warfare Group, Fort Meade, Maryland, where he served as an Operational Advisor and completed one combat tour.  His last assignment was serving as the Regimental Operations Sergeant Major for the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard).

Command Sgt. Maj. Rockey's military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Drill Sergeant School, Airborne Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Combative Training Course Level I, Stryker Leader Course, Ranger Course, Army Basic Instructor Course, Tactics Certification Course, Maneuver Senior Leader Course, Air Assault School, Jumpmaster Course, Pathfinder Course, Jungle Warfare Course, SERE Training Course, Antiterrorism Evasive Driving Course, and the Sergeant Major Course. His civilian education includes a high school diploma from Edon High School, an associate in science degree from Jefferson Community College, and Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Workforce Development.

Command Sgt. Maj. Rockey's awards and decorations include the Distinguished Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC) the Army Commendation medal (3 OLC) the Army Achievement award (9 OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation (1 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (6th award), Army Reserve Commendation Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 Bronze Star), Iraq Campaign Medal (1 Bronze Star), Global war on Terror Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with Numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with M Device), NATO Medal, Oversees Service Ribbon (2nd Award), the Drill Sergeant Identification badge, the Senior Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault badge, the Pathfinder Badge, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Ranger tab, the German Armed Forces Schutzenschnur, and the Order of St. Maurice.

Command Sgt. Maj. Rockey resides in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, with his wife Amanda and his sons Dylan, Cayden, and Braxton.
