3D U.S. INFANTRY REGIMENT (THE OLD GUARD)

Headquarters and Headquarters Company

On Order, Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 1st Battalion, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment, deploys by land or air to: Assist with NBC operations, conduct area security operations, and control civil disturbances in support of the Military District of Washington’s defense to the National Capital Region. Conduct Joint and Army ceremonies and funerals, and showcase the unit, Army, and US military through special events and deployments with the specialty platoons.

HHC consists of the following platoons/sections:

Headquarters and Headquarters Company is the largest company in the battalion. It conducts many varied missions daily in support of all battalion missions. With the diverse military occupational specialties within the company, the soldiers of HHC 1/3 provide a full range of support, to include: personnel and administration, security, planning and training for tactical and ceremonial missions, logistical support of all missions, tactical and non-tactical communications, medical care, as well as support to all matters of ceremonial and memorial affairs events.

In addition to their daily support, soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Company perform missions in both a direct and supporting roles, and are an integral part of the over 6,000 ceremonial and tactical missions conducted each year.

Bravo Company

On Order, Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 3d US Infantry Regiment, deploys by land or air to: Assist with NBC operations, conduct area security operations, and control civil disturbances in support of the Military District of Washington’s defense to the National Capital Region. Bravo Company also conducts Joint and Army ceremonies and funerals in support of the Military District of Washington.

Bravo Company is task organized as a Light Infantry Rifle Company comprised of a headquarters element and three Rifle Platoons. Its primary mission is to support the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) in its defense of the National Capital Region. These skills can also be called on to support the Army in its world-wide mission. Bravo Company also maintains proficiency in those tasks that support the Old Guard as it performs ceremonies and memorial affairs for the Military District of Washington. While fulfilling its ceremonial functions, Bravo Company provides marching elements for a host of Department of Defense and Department of the Army ceremonies year round. As a memorial affairs element, B Company is one of the primary elements in the Old Guard that provides marching, casket team and the firing party elements for military funerals in Arlington National Cemetery.

Charlie Company

Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment conducts military ceremonies to honor our fallen comrades, and instill confidence in our civilian leaders and the American people in the professionalism of the United States Army.

On order, Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment deploys into theater to defeat enemy forces in support of the war on terror.

Delta Company

Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment conducts military ceremonies to honor our fallen comrades, and instill confidence in our civilian leaders and the American people in the professionalism of the United States Army.

On order, Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment deploys into theater to defeat enemy forces in support of the war on terror.

Hotel Company

Hotel Company, 1st Battalion, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) conducts memorial affairs to honor our fallen comrades, ceremonies and special events to represent the Army, as well to communicating its story to our Nation’s citizens and the world.

On order, conducts defense support of civil authorities in the National Capital Region and deploys companies in support of Overseas Contingency Operations.
