FORT MCNAIR, Washington, D.C. - U.S. military generals, admirals and representatives conduct a senior service representative meeting leading up to the 60th Presidential Inauguration at Fort McNair, Washington, D.C., Dec. 10, 2024. Historically, up to 5,000 military personnel have provided ceremonial support during the inaugural period, which is defined as the five days before and four days after the presidential inauguration. Of these, more than 700 service members report to Joint Task Force-National Capital Region over a period of months leading up to the inauguration to provide planning and logistical support.
