CSM Frank Nauta

Command Sergeant Major

1st Battalion, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard)

Command Sergeant Major Frank Nauta was born and raised on the island of Guam. He enlisted into the United States Army in August 2005 and completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Ga., where he was trained as an Infantryman. CSM Nauta has served in every leadership position from Team Leader through Operations Sergeant Major.

His previous assignments include tours with 1st  BN, 14th IN Regiment (Stryker), and 1st  BN, 27th  IN Regiment (Light), at 25th  Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI;  2nd BN, 29th IN Regiment (TRADOC) and 2nd  BN, 58th IN Regiment, and 3rd BN, 47th IN Regiment Basic Combat Training (BCT), Fort Benning, GA, 1st BN, 38th IN Regiment and 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Fort Carson, CO, and as the Senior Military Science Instructor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His deployments include Operations Iraqi Freedom and Inherent Resolve.

His military education includes Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Master Leader Course and he is a graduate of the Sergeants Major Course, Class 74.  He is also a graduate of the U. S. Army Ranger School, Pre-Ranger Course, Airborne School, Pathfinder School, Air Assault School, U. S. Army Drill Sergeant School, U. S. Army Combative Course Level IV, Stage Jaguar International, Master Fitness Trainer Course and, Basic Instructor Training.

His awards and decorations include Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster. Army Commendation Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Achievement Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Good Conduct Medal with four Award; National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terror Service Medal; Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4); Iraqi Campaign and Inherent Resolve medals; Army Service Ribbon; Army Overseas Service Ribbon with fourth Award; Valorous Unit Award; Expert Infantryman’s Badge; Ranger Tab; Parachutist Badge; Air Assault Badge; Pathfinder Badge; Drill Sergeant Identification Badge and French Foreign Legion Jungle Badge. He is also a recipient of the Order of Saint Maurice (Centurion) Medal.

CSM Nauta is married to Jenah Libby and they have two children, Mason and Madison.
