Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Ryan D. Brodin is the command sergeant major for The U.S. Army Aviation Brigade, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Originally from Bay City, Michigan, he entered the Army on July 11, 2001.  CSM Brodin attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and graduated from the UH-60 Helicopter Repairer’s Course (15T) in Fort Eustis, Virginia.

His assignments include C and D Companies, 2nd Battalion 25th Aviation Regiment, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii; A and D Companies, 1st Battalion 214th Aviation Regiment, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, Mannheim and Wiesbaden, Germany; the United States Army Priority Air Transport, The Army Aviation Brigade, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland; the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Ft Bliss, Texas (student and Operations SGM); and 2nd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, Ft Bragg, North Carolina.

His duty positions include UH-60 Helicopter Crew Chief, Squad Leader, UH-60 Non-rated Crew Member Flight Instructor and Master Gunner, Section Sergeant, Technical Inspector, Maintenance Platoon Sergeant, UH-60 Helicopter Flight Company Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, GV / G550 Aviation Maintenance Manager, Contracting Officer’s Representative, Sergeants Major Course Operations Sergeant Major, and Assault Helicopter Battalion Command Sergeant Major.

CSM Brodin’s education includes UH-60 Helicopter Repairer’s Course, Combat Lifesaver’s Course, Environmental Compliance Officer’s Course, Basic Leader’s Course, Advanced Leader’s Course, Senior Leader’s Course, Safety Officer / Non-Commissioned Officer’s Course, Sexual Harassment / Assault Response & Prevention Course, Federal Communications Commission General Radiotelephone Operator’s Course, Gulfstream G550 Maintenance Initial, G550 Engine Run & Taxi, Gulfstream Cabin Communications and Broadband Multi-link course, and is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 69.
