LTC Ryan Bruner was raised in Bulverde, Texas. He graduated from the United State Military Academy and was commissioned as an aviation officer in 2006.
After flight school, his first assignment was with 2-3 GSAB, 3rd CAB as a CH-47 platoon leader, maintenance, flight company executive officer, and assistant S3. Upon return from OEF, LTC Bruner completed the Military Intelligence Captain’s Career Course at Fort Huachuca in November of 2011 and the multi-engine fixed wing course in March of 2012. He then served as the commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Support Company, 306th Military Intelligence Battalion (TF ODIN) Bagram, Afghanistan.
Upon completion of command, he was assigned as an OC/T, Executive Offer and Operations Officer of 2-291st Training Support Battalion at Ft Hood, Texas. In 2014, he attended the residence Master of Business Administration program at the Pennsylvania State University with follow on assignment to the Command and General Staff College. Beginning in 2018, he served as a Company Commander, Operations Officer, Executive Officer, and Chief of Staff within 1st Capabilities Integration Group (Airborne). His last assignment was as an Operations Officer in the Headquarters Department of the Army G-8 Force Development Intelligence/Electronic Warfare Division.
His awards and decoration include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation (1 OLC), Combat Action Badge, Senior Aviator Wings, and Parachutist Badge.
LTC Bruner and his wife, Kristin, have two children, Carson, and Weston.
