Command Sergeant Major Scott P. Campbell serves as the brigade sergeant major for The U.S. Army Aviation Brigade (TAAB), which is stationed at Davison Army Airfield, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Prior to his position at TAAB, he served as the Aviation Senior Enlisted Observer, Coach, and Trainer at Fort Johnson, Louisiana. Born in Rochester, New York, he entered the U.S. Army in February 1998. He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Advanced Individual Training as a Utility Equipment Repairer (MOS 52C/91C) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. In 2002, he was reclassified as a UH-60 Helicopter Repairer (MOS 67T/15T) at Fort Eustis, Virginia.
CSM Campbell’s distinguished career encompasses a wide range of leadership and technical positions. He has served as a UH-60 Crew Chief and Flight Instructor and held key leadership roles including Platoon Sergeant and Production Control NCOIC with 2-10 Aviation Battalion, Fort Drum, New York. He served as First Sergeant for the United States Aviation Battalion-Japan (USAB-J) at Camp Zama, Japan, and held leadership positions within 2-501st General Support Aviation Battalion, Fort Bliss, Texas, including C Company MEDEVAC Platoon Sergeant and Headquarters and Headquarters Company First Sergeant. Further assignments include First Sergeant, 127th Aviation Support Battalion, Fort Bliss, Texas; Senior Enlisted Advisor, Special Operations Aviation Advisory Directorate (SOAAD), 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), Fort Campbell, Kentucky; and Battalion Command Sergeant Major, 2-158th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
CSM Campbell has deployed five times in support of contingency operations, serving twice in Iraq, twice in Afghanistan, and once to Liberia. These deployments demonstrate his unwavering commitment to national security and his ability to lead Soldiers in challenging environments.
CSM Campbell is a graduate of Wayne Central High School and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership. His military education includes the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Sergeants Major Course, Senior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, and Basic Leader Course. He has also completed the Non-Rated Crewmember Instructor Course, Individual Anti-Terrorism Protection Course, Enlisted Combat Skills Training, Combatives Level I, and Security Cooperation Basic Certification.
